Grow a beard, a REAL beard.

Rich

I frequently hear from new beard growers who are intimidated about letting their new beards grow much beyond the stubble stage.  Fear not.  Carry on.  Let it grow.  Too often, they express fear that a beard growing longer than stubble will be too long!  These fears are unfounded. With a new beard, your self-perception is altered.  The thought of going beyond stubble may terrify you, with visions of presenting a monster beard.  A monster beard — or simply one that you feel is too big or too long — requires going far beyond stubble.  Ease up.  Don’t worry.  Don’t stop growing.

If you’re growing a new beard, don’t stop before you’re done.  Don’t stunt your new beard.  Let it grow beyond the stubble without fear.  Let it grow out, fill in, and blossom.  Give it a fair chance.

A beard beyond stubble length is more of a real beard.  If the stubble beard is what you really want, then keep it at that length.  But if you’re growing a new beard, don’t be afraid to go beyond stubble.  Otherwise, you deprive yourself and others of seeing your fully-grown beard in all its glory.

So how long should you let your new beard grow?  You don’t have to let it grow to the size of Rich’s beard pictured above.  But you should get closer to his length than clinging to the stubble range.  See how you like the way your beard shapes up after passing the stubble stage.   You may be pleasantly surprised.  Rich’s beard, above, clearly demonstrates that a fully-grown beard can appear neat and well-groomed.

Keep growing!

good news: growin’ again!

You may remember Dale from “adding more beards to the world“.  Well, for wholly unknown reasons, he reportedly later went from the full beard down to a goatee and mustache.  And from there, went down further to just a mustache and soul patch.  The good news, however, is that Dale just emailed to proclaim that the full beard is on its way back!

Happily growing again:

Good job, Dale!  Keep it growing.  Photos are courtesy of Dale and are used with permission.

For any of the rest of you out there who have shaved your beards, take a cue from Dale and start growing again!

adding more beards to the world

Dale

Could you imagine never allowing the world to see this beard? This is Dale. More than a year ago, a friend recommended to Dale that he visit beards.org. Dale checked out the site and was immediately inspired to start growing his beard. He has been growing his beard and experimenting with different styles ever since. That’s one more beard in the world, thanks to beards.org.

Of course, Dale’s industrial-strength beard is not the only beard whose growth was inspired by the site. Several are documented in the beard success stories section of the site. Those, however, represent only a tiny fraction of the beards added to the world in response to the influence of beards.org. I know of lots more. I am sure that there are even more out there that I haven’t heard about and likely never will. If you are among those who grew a beard because this site convinced you to try it, drop me a line to let me know. And if you’d like to appear on the site, be sure to mention that!

If you know someone who could grow a beard, be sure to tell him to get to beards.org and start growing. He could be the next Dale! Remember that Dale’s example shows that it works! Do your part to add more beards to the world.
